THE ARTIST:
Roger was born in Dublin in 1944 and attended Blackrock College
in Dublin and Rockwell College in Tipperary before being awarded a Bachelor
of Commerce degree at University College, Dublin.
He studied painting and drawing at Newpark College, Dublin and attended the
CEER classes at the National College for Art and Design over two years, and
the DLCAD, Dunlaoghaire. He attended extramural classes in art at UCD and
also studied privately with professional painters.
Roger, after taking early retirement, has become a full time professional
painter. He is primarily a water-colourist who specialises in particular
themes. His paintings are in private collections in the USA, UK, Australia, Spain,
South Africa, Japan and Ireland.
His latest achievement, about which he is really, really proud is that one
of his paintings has been chosen to represent Ireland in a 51 country,
world-wide Millennium Art Exhibition, sponsored by Winsor and Newton. This
exhibition will be the largest ever staged in the world. It will hang in
London at the Mall Gallery in February 2000, The World Trade Centre in
Stockholm during March and then on to finish its tour at the United Nations
in New York in June - August 2000.
The Exhibition will feature in the next Guinness Book of Records.
