Wendy Skog
The paintings exhibited represent a spectrum of artistic expression as I explore subjects that attract me for reasons I cannot fully explain in words. Creating art is to follow a divine impulse that leads to a visual journey.

The paintings reflect my innermost sense of balance on the weighscale of art and life in my unique experience. The prospect of making contemporary art in the classical technique of chiaroscuro, the dramatic use of dark and light, with modern materials and methods allows me to creatively invade the deepest corners of emotion and to discover my own abstract language. Through painting I can express the intelligence of the mind boundlessly. I like to let a painting emerge as unhindered as possible from the white canvas of mentally stored images that catalogue my memory. Incorporating a subdued figurative element has become the recent momentum of my work, ‘the force that through the green fuse drives the flower’.
